1. If you can
bake it, grill it, or fry it, you can air fry it! (Except for foods with wet
batters) – have fun experimenting with foods you already love to cook!
2. Any oven safe
cookware is OK to put in your air fryer. This includes silicone!
3. To get rid of
factory smells during first few cycles, place a small amount of lemon juice and
vinegar in an
ovenproof bowl
and cook it for 10-20 minutes at 400 ̊ in the air fryer.
4. Pull air
fryer at least 5-6 inches away from walls when operating and unplugged when not
in use. Never place on a stove top.
5. Never use wax
paper or paper towels in air fryer, use a foil sling to help lift items out of
air fryer and parchment paper (with holes) for messy foods.
6. Clean out the
air fryer basket after each meal - soak in hot soapy water (like Dawn dish
soap) for 5-10 minutes then wipe out with soft cloth or sponge. To prolong the
life of the basket, avoid the dishwasher and never use abrasives.
7. Place air
fryer and a hot air fryer basket on a heat resistant surface, like a wood
cutting board or silicone mat.
8. Preheat your
air fryer for 2-5 minutes at 350 ̊-400 ̊ (unless the manufacturer or recipe
specifically says not to) & COOKING TEMP GUIDE
9. Dry Food Well
- unless your air fryer has a steam function, water on food will skew final results.
10. Adapt
cooking instructions by decreasing temperature by 10-25 degrees and reducing
baking time by 25%-50%. Then add time as needed. An instant read thermometer
will help you know when many foods are cooked through.
11. Oil: Don’t
use commercial aerosol sprays! Use your own healthy oil with a high smoke
point, in a spray bottler. Only 1 tsp to 1 tablespoon of oil is needed to crisp
up foods.
12. Don’t
overcrowd the basket - never fill the basket more than halfway for optimal
results and even cooking.
13. Rotate or
Shake the food for even cooking.
14. Prevent
smoke by placing water or a slice or two of bread underneath the basket to
catch drippings from fatty foods like bacon or chicken thighs.
15. Use the air
fryer to reheat leftovers!
16. Use
toothpicks to hold foods down to pre-vent the fan from blowing them around.
17. Use a
preheated air fryer to help yeast dough rising.
18. Stop air
fryer before opening to check foods for doneness.
